Last Updated: March 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how BaroBuddy collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.
Who We Are
BaroBuddy is a weather tracking application that helps people with chronic pain predict when barometric pressure changes might trigger their symptoms. We are not a healthcare provider, medical device, or diagnostic tool.
Information We Collect
Location Data
We collect your GPS coordinates to retrieve accurate weather data for your specific location. This data is used only to fetch barometric pressure, temperature, and humidity information from our weather data provider (Open-Meteo).
Health Data
When you log pain episodes, we collect:
- Pain intensity ratings
- Timestamps of when pain started and ended
- Optional details you choose to provide (pain type, location, symptoms, triggers, medications)
This health data is stored locally on your device and is never sent to our servers.
Weather Data
We automatically record weather conditions (barometric pressure, temperature, humidity) at the time you log pain. This data comes from Open-Meteo, a third-party weather service.
Device Data
We collect basic device information needed for cloud backup functionality (iCloud on iOS, Google Drive on Android).
How We Use Your Information
We use the information you provide to:
- Display current barometric pressure and weather conditions at your location
- Calculate pain risk scores based on weather patterns
- Send you alerts when pressure changes are detected
- Help you identify patterns between weather and your pain episodes
- Allow you to export your data for sharing with healthcare providers
Data Storage
All of your health data is stored locally on your device using encrypted SQLite databases. We do not store your health information on external servers.
Your data is automatically backed up to:
- iCloud (iOS users)
- Google Drive (Android users)
These backups are controlled by Apple and Google respectively. We do not have access to your cloud backup data.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information or health data with third parties for marketing purposes.
We share anonymous location coordinates with Open-Meteo solely to retrieve weather data. No health information is included in these requests.
Payment and subscription information is processed by:
- Apple (iOS)
- Google (Android)
- RevenueCat (subscription management service)
These companies process payments according to their own privacy policies.
